The monograph, based on a wide range of sources, provides a comprehensive study of the military and political activities of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (and the military structures initiated by it) on Ukrainian lands from the beginning of World War II to the final liquidation of the armed underground by the Soviet state security authorities.
The author highlights the peculiarities of the OUN's confrontation with the Polish state in September 1939, the specifics of the conflict between organized Ukrainian nationalism and the Nazi occupation authorities, the vicissitudes of the UPA formation and its participation in the struggle against the German administration, the Ukrainian-Polish conflict, and the guerrilla war against the Soviet regime in the Ukrainian SSR and postwar Poland.
