The book «Ukrainian Intelligence. Ancient times»

The book recreates the picture of the origin and development of intelligence activities on the ancient lands of Ukraine in ancient times - from the Eastern Slavs and Kyiv Rus to the Hetman Cossack State. The author of the book, researcher of intelligence history Oleksandr Skrypnyk comprehensively analyzes the events of that time and aims to present them in an understandable form. Therefore, along with the historical chronology, he presents essays, sketches, folk tales and legends, framed by a large amount of illustrative material. The stories bring to life the scouts of Kyivan princes Volodymyr the Great and Yaroslav the Wise, hetmans Petro Sahaidachnyi, Bohdan Khmelnytskyi, Ivan Mazepa, Pylyp Orlyk, and other Cossack leaders.

This popular science publication together with the book "Ukrainian Intelligence. 100 Years of Struggle, Confrontations and Achievements", which was published a year earlier and is made in the same style, made up a kind of two-volume set that recreates the history of Ukrainian intelligence from ancient times to the present.
