Day after day, month after month of the great war, the Ukrainian people demonstrate to the world examples of courage, resilience, courage and unity in the face of a cruel enemy that is numerically superior. The maritime theater of military operations is no exception. During the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war, Ukraine actively uses its naval combat capabilities, covering the waters of the Black and Azov Seas. The Battle of the Black Sea was marked by Ukraine’s successful asymmetric warfare against the Russian Navy’s Black Sea Fleet. The result of these actions was the sinking of the Russian missile cruiser Moskva.

The destruction of the cruiser Moskva became a landmark and symbolic event in the Russian-Ukrainian war, as it was the flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. This was the first time in the world that a flagship had been sunk in 40 years. This event was given even greater symbolism, firstly, by the similarity of the cruiser’s name to the capital of the aggressor state, and secondly, by the fact that Ukraine, unlike the Russian Federation, had practically no large military fleet, and showed that Ukrainians were capable of fighting on equal terms against the powerful military machine of the Russian aggressors.

What you will learn from our book:

  • What was the missile cruiser "Moscow" (formerly "Slava") and three other ships of project 1164: "Marshal Ustinov", "Varyag" (formerly "Chervona Ukraina") and "Ukraine" (formerly "Admiral Lobov"). A detailed description of their design, construction, combat capabilities and service;
  • How was the cruiser "Moscow" sunk;
  • What damage did the cruiser "Moscow" receive after being hit by Ukrainian-made "Neptune" missiles;
  • What versions of the cruiser's destruction are considered by both the Ukrainian side and our enemies;
  • How is Russian propaganda trying to hide the Ukrainian trace in the destruction of the cruiser that bore the name of the capital of the enemy country?

The book is intended for military personnel, historians, researchers, local historians and everyone who is interested in the modern history of Ukraine.
